Rights, Respect, and Responsibility

The California Healthy Youth Act, which took effect in January of 2016, requires school districts to provide integrated, accurate, and unbiased comprehensive sexual health and HIV prevention education. In order to achieve these outcomes, Oceanside Unified will be using Advocates for Youth's "Rights, Respect, and Responsibility" curriculum as a guideline for instruction in Kindergarten through 9th grade.

In order to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year, Senate Bill 1381 requires that a child must have his/her fifth birthday on or before September 1, 2018.


The following documents must be submitted at the time of registration in order to complete the process. 

    • 5 DOSES OF DTP
    • 3 DOSES OF HEP B

 TWO CURRENT PROOFS OF RESIDENCE (Acceptable proofs are listed below – NO EXCEPTIONS)

  • LEASE AGREEMENT – Showing your name and address, beginning and ending lease dates, signed and dated by lessor and lessee.
  • CITY OF OCEANSIDE WATER BILL (less than 30 days old)
  • SAN DIEGO GAS & ELECTRIC BILL (less than 30 days old)
  • COX OR AT&T BILL with INTERNET SERVICE (less than 30 days old)

Student account will be assigned a 'Parent Portal' at the time of registration via email. This 'Parent Portal' can be used by parent to update student's information, email teacher, and complete a Data Confirmation. You will need to complete a 'Data Confirmation' every year in August to register for the year.

Anti-Bullying Awareness Month

Thank you to all the students and staff at McAuliffe who supported anti-bullying efforts on October 18th by wearing white shirts and blue jeans. By participating, we help bring awareness to school bullying and how it can be stomped out. McAuliffe sent a clear message that there is no place for bullying at McAuliffe or any Oceanside school.

The OUSD 2016-2017 Student/ Parent Handbook is now available for viewing online.  The handbook is available in both English and Spanish.  Parents can also download a PDF version of this guide.

Spotlight on McAuliffe

Christa McAuliffe Elementary School was highlighted in the Fall/Winter 2015 issue of Connecting Communities, a state-wide publication produced by CalRecycle. We are on page 19.


If your child is returning to Christa McAuliffe in August, you will need to complete the on-line Data Confirmation.

You can complete the on-line Data Confirmation as soon as August 1, 2018. Office will re-open August 13, 2018. Your Data Confirmation information needs to be brought into the office prior to school starting along with two current proofs of residency, i.e; lease agreement, mortgage statement, utility bills, etc. If you have a Shared Residency Agreement, you will need to complete a new one. Those can be picked up in our office.

From our Butterfly Garden

Butterfly Habitat and Vegetable Garden

The Christa McAuliffe Butterfly Habitat and Vegetable Garden NEEDS YOU!!! 

We are busy with spring planting! Volunteers are needed to come before or after school one day each weekto help students water in the garden! It could be when you drop off your child in the morning or when you pick up in the afternoon.  Volunteers will be given everything needed!  Please be our “Garden Angels”!  Come help us grow the gardens to be ready for the butterflies returning and the vegetable harvest!

If you are available, please let me know what day and either before or after school.



1st Place - Earning for Learning

Great News!  McAuliffe to first place in the 2016 Earning for Learning contest sponsored by the Westfield mall, which is now Shoppes at Carlsbad.  The PTA and I want to thank all the parents for turning in those receipts and supporting the program.  Subsequently, the PTA was given a check for $2,500!
