In the event of an emergency, for the most updated information San Diego's KOGO- AM-600 is always a good source to turn to for updated information when we cannot supply it ourselves.If you have a smart phone, you can download the free app-iHeart radio and tap into the San Diego city listing of stations to listen to KOGO live. In the future the district office will try to post public service announcements to KOGO.

Green Oceanside, OUSD Teaming up for Annual Contest
Environmentally conscientious students are invited to use their creative talents in this year’s City of Oceanside “Create to Educate” performance art contest. All students in grades 1-12 are eligible to creatively express through writing, song, video or art how our community can help improve and save the environment.
Recycling, preserving natural resources, water conservation and renewable energy are some of the many areas for students to focus their entries. Click Create to Educate for contest rules and details.

Attention 1st-5th grade parents
In an effort to "Go Green", and save some money, we will no longer be sending home "blue postcards" to inform parents and students of teacher assignments for the 2014-2015 school year. You may access the Aeries Parent Portal to find out the teacher assignment beginning Friday, evening, August 15th. If for some reason you do not have access to a computer or the internet, staff will be on hand the first day of school, August 18th, to help your child find his or her classroom and teacher. We hope that you have a safe and relaxing summer! See you in August!

Chargers Champion Grant Helps Rejuvenate McAuliffe Running Track
Promoting physical fitness and health for McAuliffe students just got a little easier. Thanks to a $17,000 Chargers Grant, the school has refurbished its running track. Visit OUSD Facebook to view more photos.
Charger cheerleaders and representatives of the NFL team were on hand Tuesday for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. Principal Betsy Wilcox told students, staff and parents the new track is a “great addition to the school’s Happy Feet health program for all students."
During the past 10 years, the Chargers have awarded more than $4 million in grants to more than 100 San Diego County Schools.

OUSD Nutrition Services has a Facebook Page!
"Like" OUSD Nutrition Services on Facebook. Lots of great information about breakfast and lunch items, information on special grant programs, and nutrition fun facts. It's also a great way to leave feedback! Also, Nutrition Services has an app for the menu! Search the app store for "School Lunch Nutrislice" and find the Nutrislice app. The app includes menus for each school, pictures of breakfast and lunch menu items, nutrition and allergen information, and the option to rate each food item.

Foods and beverages sold to students through the district’s child nutrition program, student stores, vending machines and fundraisers meet or exceed state and federal nutrition standards. Nutrition education is provided as a part of the district’s health education program.
